Billie “Bill” L. Gibson, 92, of South Point, OH passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born July 2, 1926, in Lawrence County, OH, son of the late Miller and Blanche Freeman Gibson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Asenith Morris Gibson; one son, Carl David Gibson; one step-son, Jeffery Christian; three sisters, Helena Gibson, Gladys Keeney, Olive Brammer and four brothers, Harold Gibson, Frank Gibson, Howard Gibson and Carl Gibson. Bill was an Army Veteran having served in World War II. He was retired from The County Garage in Ironton, OH and loved to fish. He was a member of Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church for many years and loved his family, church family and his dog, Babydoll. Bill never met a stranger and will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Gibson; three children, Billie E. (Kathy) Gibson of Knoxville, TN, Terresa Gay Gibson of Columbus, OH and Sharon Kay Gibson (Leroy) Seagraves of Ashland, KY; three step-children, Glen Allen (Heather) Christian of Ashland, KY, Mike (Cheri) Christian of Barboursville, WV and Brenda (Rusty) Wells of South Shore, KY; one sister, Betty Gibson Knipp of Franklin Furnace, OH; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 2 PM Monday, March 11, 2019 at Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 5121 OH- 243, Ironton, OH 45638 with Pastor Todd Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Ice Creek Cemetery, Ironton, OH. Visitation will be from 12 PM – 2 PM, two hours prior to the service at the Church. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point OH is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
