PHYLLIS “JUNE” JOYCE, 82, of Ironton, Ohio, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 06, 2011 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Huntington, WV. June was born May 18, 1929, in Cabell County, WV, a daughter of the late Otis and Maude Russell Keefer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Dave” Joyce; one brother, Davie Keefer; and special son-in-law, “Sonny” Bowen. She retired from Sears and prior to that, worked at C & P Telephone Company. June attended 1st Guyandotte Baptist Church where she was a member of Ladies for Christ. June is survived by two sons, Kevin (Debby) Joyce of South Point, OH and Perry “Pete” (Vicki) Joyce of Amelia, OH; two daughters, Pam Bowen and Janie Evans both of Huntington, WV; one brother, Bo Keefer of Winchester, KY, one sister Sherry (Larry) Estep of Knoxville, TN; 8 grandchildren, Andy(Dawn) Bowen, Todd (Faustina) Bowen, Carrie (Paul) Fuller, Amber Evans (special granddaughter who showed such loving care for her MaMaw June), Geena Berry, Gavin Joyce, Nicholas (Courtney) Joyce, Daniel Joyce and Elisha (Jake) Dorsey; 11 great grandchildren; several dear friends, Kie Lawrence of Chesapeake, OH, Libby Jeffrey of Huntington, WV and Mona Hart of South Point, OH; and special caregivers at Close to Home, Ironton, OH. Friends may call 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve the family of June.
