MARGARET LOUISE MCKEE, 90, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2012, and to reunite with her parents, Irvin and Mae Conner; her sister, Virginia Cash; her infant brother; and her daughter, Gloria Jean Lester.
A graduate of Chesapeake High School, Louise worked as a secretary for Colonel Jim Hayes, USAF, at Wright-Patterson Field in Dayton. She served sixteen years on the Lawrence County Health Board and was a member of the South Point Christian Church. She was a homemaker and an avid reader who loved singing, traveling, and being with her extended family. Affectionately known as “Weesie,” she took fun and laughter with her everywhere she went; her family and friends adored her.
Louise is survived by her spouse of 70 years, Capt. Joseph L. McKee of South Point; daughter Vicki (David) McKee Crook of South Point; and son-in-law Bobby Lester, also of South Point; five granddaughters: Jill Lester Adams of Ashland, KY; Melissa (Steven) Lester McCloud of
Chesapeake; Jennifer Lester Stapleton of South Point; Carrie (Andrew) Crook Boren of Houston, TX and Jennifer (Zachery) Crook Reeder of Ft. Worth, TX; Nine great-grandchildren: Anna, Abby, and Adam VanDyke of Ashland, Logan and Darby McCloud of Chesapeake, Trey Stapleton of South Point, Chase and Blake Boren of Houston and Emma Reeder of Ft. Worth; niece, Judy (Dave) Goodall Lester, Easley, SC; great-nephew David (Janet) Lester, Clemson, SC; and two great-great nieces, Tracy and Christy Mae Lester also of Clemson , SC. She also leaves behind many, many friends, including special friends John and Donna Onesta of Columbus, OH.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland of Riverview; Dr. Shirley Neitch of Hanshaw Geriatric Center; the staff of Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, WV; and the staff of Slack and Wallace Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Monday, July 9, from 6 to 8 pm at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point. The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 10, at 11:00 am, with Jerry Greenslait and Earl Slack officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point.
