Dessie Marie Porter, 89 of Ironton, OH, passed away July 13, 2013 at The Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley, Ironton, Ohio. Funeral services will be 1 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH. The Soldier, Kentucky native was born September 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Willie Elgin Duncan and Carrie Jarvis Duncan. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Joseph Porter and son Leslie Adkins. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Hubert Duncan and Wilford Duncan of Ironton, OH. She is survived by one son, Robert L. Brite of Ironton, OH. She has two special cousins Delores Greenhill and Linda Layne of Paintsville, KY. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Ironton, OH.
