    Ray Eplion, 93, of South Point, OH passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018.  Ray was born May 19, 1924 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Audie A. and Mildred France Eplion.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Johnson Eplion; 2 sons, William “Billy” Eplion and Ray Eplion, Jr.; step-daughter, Shelby Adkins McComas; 2 brothers, Clifford Eplion and Richard Eplion; a sister, Stella (Bess) Miller; a grandson, Geoffery Eplion; and a half brother, Joe Eplion.  Ray was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII.  He was a retired as a Welder from Ohio River Company and was the President of United Mine Workers, Huntington Local.  He is survived by a daughter, Gail (Ron) Eplion Donahoe of South Point, OH, a brother, Audie (Roberta) Eplion of Huntington, WV; half-sister, Loretta (Larry) Eplion Thompson of Chesapeake, OH; half-brother,  Junior (Patty) Eplion of KY; 5 grandchildren, Christy (Terry) Donahoe Nichols, of Chesapeake, OH, Ron (Pam) Donahoe, II of LA, Jessica (Marc) Donahoe Davis of Lavalette, WV, Sheree “Nikki” (D.J.) Eplion Bryant of South Point, OH and Amanda (Shane) Newman, of South Point, OH; 2 step-grandaughters, Kim Bryson Ratcliff of South Point, OH and Tammy Bryson (Kiko) Espinoza of Chesapeake, OH; a step grandson, Danny Bryson of South Point, OH; 15 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; a great-great-great grandson; and a very special friend, Frances Wriston of Chesapeake, OH. Military graveside services will be 10 AM Friday, May 4, 2018 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV.  Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
