Ruth Ann Newman

November 22, 1933 - May 31, 2018

Ruth Ann Newman, 84, of Pedro, OH, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY.  She was born November 22, 1933 in Ironton, OH, a daughter of the late Samuel David Smith and Anna Louise Gruber Smith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Newman and an infant daughter, Ruth Ann Newman.  Ruth was a member of Lick Creek Missionary Baptist Church and was a great mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her children, Earl Smith of Burlington, OH, Debbie (Johnny) Ross of NC, Effie (Don) Justice of South Point, Brenda (Jack) McClaskey of South Point, Miles Newman of Ceredo, WV, Bessie Bowman of Ironton and Wayne Newman of Ironton; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 10 great, great grandchildren; a sister, Kay; and a brother, Dud Smith of Coal Grove.  Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, June 4, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Phillip Vernon Bowman, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
