Mark Bailey, 65, of Huntington, WV died unexpectedly in his sleep on September 15, 2016. He is predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Jane Bailey, who passed away four months ago. He leaves behind his daughters and their husbands, Sarajane and Brett Agypt and Kati and Will Holland, as well as his son Matthew Bailey. He also leaves grandchildren he adored: Miles Anthony, Amelia Jane, and Evelyn Anne Agypt. Mark was born on February 6, 1951 in Huntington, WV to father, Lawrence “Butch” Bailey and mother, Lexie Bailey. He created many memorable stories along the way with his loving family. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Brett and Brenda Bailey. He is also survived by his brother, Larry Bailey who lost his wife, Kay Bailey, to cancer less than a day after Mark’s death. Mark is a graduate of Buffalo High School and Marshall University. He met his wife, Jane, working at Tidewater Supply. The two married in 1979 and he acquired a new family that he loved. He is predeceased by his in laws, Dorothy “Dot” and Robert Jeter. He is also predeceased by his sister-in-law, Nancy Jeter. He is survived by Jane’s siblings and their spouses: Rusty and Mary Jeter, Barry and Kris Jeter, Julie Jeter and Frank Garrison, and Jon and Amy Jeter. Mark also loved his slew of nieces and nephews and extended family. Mark owned and operated Mark’s Antiques. Antiques were his lifelong hobby that he was able to turn into a successful career the past 30 years. He greatly enjoyed interacting with his customers and loved that his mother, Lexie, also found joy in working some days there. It was his passion and he never grew tired of studying the art. Mark loved many things and was never weighed down by social norms. He was unique, bold, and confident in what he did. He loved his family dearly and holding a baby would light up his day like nothing else. He was an excellent father and Papaw. Anytime he was in the great outdoors, he was happy. He was a mountain man but the ocean held a special place in his heart. He respected nature and loved teaching his children and grandchildren about gardening. He was a proud Son of Marshall and avid Herd fan. He was passionate about food and was a great cook. He also loved books, art, culture, and you could find him singing classic rock as well as Adele’s latest album. His celebration of life will be on Saturday, September 24th, at Lavalette United Methodist Church. Visitation will take place from 11am-Noon with a memorial service immediately to follow. In honor of Mark, the family asks that you cheer on Marshall as they take on Louisville the evening of his service, as he was looking forward to the game.
