Joyce C. Leighty

Joyce C. Leighty, 86, of South Point, OH, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at River’s Bend Health Care, Burlington, OH.  Funeral services will be 1:00 pm  October 24, 2016 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Robert Carter and Ross McCollum officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH.  Joyce was born August 26, 1930 in Ashland, KY, a daughter of the late Rennie G. Manning and Marie Mitchell Manning.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Leighty; 2 brothers, Ralph Manning and Rennie Manning, Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Leighty. Joyce was a member of South Point United Methodist Church and attended South Point First Church of the Nazarene.   She is survived by 3 children, Brenda (Mack) Stevens, Thomas A. (Valerie) Leighty and Robert R. (Edie) Leighty; 2 sisters, Betty Tackett and Virginia Brooks; a brother, Ronald Manning; 8 grandchildren, Angela Stevens, Christina (Mike) Stapleton, Andy Leighty, Carrie (Jamie) Manning, Daniel (Megan) Leighty, Steven (Jody) Leighty, Tara (Grady) Davis and Scotty (Viktoria) Nease; 11 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild.  The family wishes to give a special thanks to the loving and caring staff at River’s Bend Health Care.  Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
