David F. Lester 77, of Easley, SC formerly of Chesapeake, Ohio went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2016 at home.  Dave was born in Chesapeake, Ohio on February 28, 1939 to the late Abner H. and Corba E. Lester.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Edith, Wilma, Lisa, Anita, and Sue; three brothers; Abner Jr., Thomas, and Daniel. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 56 years, Judy; one son David (Janet) Lester Jr. of Clemson, SC; and two granddaughters, Tracy and Christy Mae at home.  One sister, Betty Shockley of Huntington, WV; one brother Frederick (Linda) Lester of Miller, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews also survive him.

Dave was a long time member of the South Point Christian Church where he taught Sunday school for many years and served in various leadership positions.  He also served as president of the South Point Village Council.  Dave was a consummate professional in every aspect of his life.  As a builder and land developer, he built homes throughout southern Ohio for many years, developed two subdivisions in South Point, and was named general contractor for the construction of a new motel in South Point.  He later formed Franklin Mining Inc., which produced and shipped coal from eastern Kentucky and southern Indiana. In the late eighties, he relocated to Sarasota Florida where he purchased a blueprint and reprographic business from which he eventually retired in the mid-nineties.  After retiring, Dave relocated to Easley, SC to be near his granddaughters whom he absolutely adored.  Funeral services will be conducted at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, Ohio on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Jerry Greenslait officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
