Elizabeth “Betty” Rose Keith Tucker, 74, of South Point, OH, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton, OH. She was born June 8, 1942 in Staunton, Indiana the daughter of the late Earl and Sarah Elizabeth Keith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Orville and Mary Tucker; and a brother, Gary Keith. Betty is survived by her husband, Larry L. Tucker; her children, Sally (Greg) Bemis of Terre Haute, IN, Debbie (K.J.) Tucker of Evansville, IN, David Tucker of Vincennes, IN, Darrin (April) Tucker of New Johnsonville, TN and Stefani Tucker of South Point, OH; a brother, Jack (Dixie) Keith of Waynesboro, TN; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Keith of Rockville, IN; 12 grandchildren, Travis (Misty) Bemis, Lee (Carly) Bemis, Stevee (Paul) Cary, Justin Tucker, Kamber Tucker and Chase Tucker, Taylor Tucker, Talon Tucker, Trevor Tucker, Trenton Tucker and Toby Tucker and Morgan Gillespie; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tucker attended school in Staunton, IN. Mr. and Mrs. Tucker were married June 13, 1958 and had been together nearly 60 years until Mrs. Tucker’s untimely death. During their married life, the couple traveled to many states; it was one of her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed doing ceramics early on with her sister-in-law, Phyllis. She thoroughly enjoyed bowling, sewing and crocheting; as well as mushroom hunting during the season. Mrs. Tucker truly was loved by all who met her and never met a person she didn’t like. She treated her friends, family and visitors like her home was theirs. Her children’s friends loved to sit and talk with her for hours on end. Betty loved to shop, whether it was at Macy’s or Walmart. Betty’s mother came to her home to celebrate their favorite time of year, Christmas. The camaraderie and love during that time was a gift in itself. No presents were needed. Mr. Tucker, his daughter Debbie and granddaughter Stevee were at her side when Mrs. Tucker went to be with God. Betty never worked, nor did she ever have a driver’s license but made up for it by always making our house a home and we all loved and thought the world of her. She was always our best friend. Services will be 12 PM Friday, December 16, 2016 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
