John Gillum

February 28, 1930 - February 5, 2017

John Gillum, 86, of South Point, OH died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at JoLin Health Center, Ironton, OH.  He was born February 28, 1930 in Elliott County, KY, a son of the late John Gillum and Lorna Greene Gillum.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda L. Bailey Gillum and a brother, Edgar Gillum.  John was retired from the Lawrence County, OH Engineer’s as a truck driver and was an Army veteran having served in Korea.  Survivors include a daughter, Vickie (Barry) Nease of South Point; a granddaughter, Lisa Pierson of Ironton; 2 great granddaughters, Samantha Huff and Jessica Thomas; a great, great grandson, Devon; and a sister, Katherine (Mark) Chapman of Catlettsburg, KY.  Per John’s request, there will be no visitation or service.  Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences to the family can be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
