    James E. Sloan, Jr., of Kitts Hill, OH, went home to be with the Lord, February 26, 2017 at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, KY.  Jim was born June 6, 1939 in Ironton, OH, a son of the late James Edward Sloan, Sr. and Maxine Davidson Sloan.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby brother, Richard Sloan.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from Ashland Oil in 2000 as a Plant Operator after 22 years, and attended Oakland Chapel in Kitts Hill, OH.  He was a wonderful Christian man and a loving husband and father.  Jim is survived by his wife, Jane Spears Sloan; two daughters, Karen Sue (Mark) Wade and Jami (Jeremy) Layne; a sister, Marva (Jim) Crabtree; a brother, Robert (Pat) Sloan; four grandchildren, Zachary (Misty)  Sloan, Tyler Kerns, Sarah Layne and Matthew Layne; and two great grandchildren, Skylar Sloan and Kylan Sloan.  Funeral services will be 1 PM, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Lenny Campbell and Pastor Gary Henry officiating.  Burial will follow at Ice Creek Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the Respiratory Stepdown Department at King’s Daughters Medical Center for their wonderful care.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jerimiah 38 Ministries.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
