    Evelene “Evelyn” Smith, 87, of South Point, OH passed away Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Ironton, OH. She was born October 30, 1927 in Martin County, KY, a daughter of the late Henry and Maudie Bradford Stepp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Smith and a son, Jerry Smith. Evelyn was a retired employee of South Point High School. Survivors include her children, Sheila (Tom) Richardson of Lexington, KY, Mike Smith of Richmond, IN, Kathy (Jim) Johnston of Ft. Worth, TX, Randy (Kathy) Smith of South Point, Rusty (Carol) Smith of South Point, Eric “Scoot” (Sandra) Smith of South Point, Kim (Jeff) Hudson of Cincinnati, OH, Teresa Hall of Ashville, OH, John (Sue) Smith of Ashville, OH and Crystal Smith of Ashville, OH; 24 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Granville (Geneva) Stepp of Howell, MI and Landon (Peggy) Stepp of Pt. Pleasant, WV. Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Pastor Robert Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Quality Care Nursing Service.
