    Walter Jackson “Mike” Morrison, 93 of South Point, OH passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV.  A memorial service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with his nephews Ronnie Webb and Robbie Brown officating.  Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.  Mike was the fourth of 14 children born December 11, 1923 in Salt Rock, WV, to the late Zigler and Hattie Spurlock Morrison.    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 brothers; and 3 sisters.  He was a WW2 Army Veteran, a lifetime member of VFW Post 8850, a lifetime member of Amvet’s Ironton, OH and also a Kentucky Colonel.  He retired from Riley Development as carpenter. He is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Dorothy Hewlett Morrison; his children, Phillip (Carolyn) Morrison and Ricky “Jammer” Morrison all of South Point, OH ; 3 grandchildren, Phillip S. Morrison, William M. Morrison & Andrew T. Morrison all of South Point, OH; 3 step grandchildren, Jennifer Vicarel, Michael Slominsky and Douglas Brewer;   3 great grandchildren, Samantha Morrison Scarberry, Ava Morrison and Danielle Marino Morrison ; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild, Paisley Scarberry; 4 sisters, Sylvia Hattie Morrison Benson, Sadie Ruth Morrison Barnes, Sally Rozanna Morrison Shaw (Gray) and Gloria Almeda Virginia Morrison Webb (Fred); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Slack and Wallace Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
