    Michael Wayne Smith, 60, went to be with his Lord on August 22, 2018, while surrounded by his family at his farm in Ashland, Kentucky. His memorial service will be held this Monday, August 27, at 6:30 p.m. at Tri-State Worship Center in South Point, Ohio.

    Mike was born on September 17, 1957, to Charles “Shorty”and Margaret Ann Smith. He grew up in C-K and graduated from Vinson High School.

    Mike married his wife, Susan, in 1976, and the couple had three children: Jessie Ann, Charles Michael, and Andrew Paul Smith. The family moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1983, where Mike owned and operated a flooring company. They returned to Huntington in 1991. Mike was the owner of Empire Metal Recycling in Huntington, and later, Atlas Metal Recycling in Ceredo.

    Mike was an avid classic car restorer. He loved fishing in the lake at his farm and spending time with his family. He also loved his employees over the years, whom he considered part of his extended family.

    Mike is preceded in death by his father, Shorty, and his brother, Billy. He is survived by his mother Margaret, wife Susan, three children: Jessie, Michael (Maurica), and Drew, three grandchildren: Christina Grace Nicole Perego, Madelynn Ainsley Faith Perego, and Gianna Isabelle Smith, and three dogs: Cadie, Bella, and Lilly.
