Charles E. Payne, 78 of South Point, OH passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born October 18, 1939 in Kitts Hill, OH a son of the late Charles W. and Eva Humphrey Payne. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma McCann Payne; and a sister, Belinda Gabbert Richardson. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, owner and operator of Char-Cal Inc., and attended Solida Baptist Church. Charles is survived by his daughter, Kim (Howard) Curtis of South Point, OH; his son, Rick (Pam) Payne of South Point, OH; a sister, Hilda Friend of Pedro, OH; a brother, Calvin (Betty) Payne of Pedro, OH; three grandchildren, Crystal Curtis, Tyler Payne and Tara Morrison; one great grandchild, Abby Morrison; several nieces and nephews; and his buddy Tiki. Friends may visit 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH. Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, with Pastor Aaron Childers officiating.
