James A. McComas, 84, of South Point, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2013 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, Ohio with Pastor Zac Arrowood officiating. Burial will follow at Myrtle Ridge Cemetery, Andis, OH. James was born February 26, 1929 in Lawrence County, OH, a son of the late Arnold and Alice Webb McComas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Emma Mae Willis McComas; grandson, Shawn Jameson; great grandson, Paul Robert Johnson; sister, Thelma McComas; and two brothers, Lawrence and Ronald McComas. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired as an Ironworker from Dayton Malleable Iron Company. James is survived by two daughters, Janice and Robert Jameson of Kitts Hill, OH and Candy and Rob Evans of South Point, OH; three grandchildren, Lori Johnson of Kitts Hill, OH Jamie and Sarah Rice of Ironton, OH and Jeremy and Tammie Rice of Coal Grove, OH; and five great grandchildren, Desaree and Dylan Johnson, Jeremiah, Nate and Ethan Rice; four sisters, Freda Kidder of Florida, Mary McCarley of South Point, OH, Frances McComas of Proctorville and Doreen Cade of South Point, OH; three brothers, Don McComas of Gahna, OH, John McComas and Tommy McComas both of Columbus, OH; and many nieces and nephews. We want to thank Hospice House of Huntington and Becky, Zach, Julie, Debbie, Melissa, Denise and Scott for their kindness and compassion for our Father and us during our Fathers sickness. We love you all. Dads smile brightened everyone’s day. We will always miss you and Mom. Eat all the ice cream bars in Heaven you want. Pallbearers will be Rob Evans, Robert Jameson, Dylan Johnson, Jamie Rice, Jeremy Rice, Jeremiah Rice and Nate Rice. Friends may call 6 to 8 PM Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home.
