Billy J. Smith, 72, of South Point, OH passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born November 20, 1942 in Neibert, WV, a son of the late Albert Smith and Bertha Davis Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. Billy was a former truck driver for R. J. Stern, a sanitarian with the Columbus, OH and Logan Co., WV Health Departments and a former teacher with the Logan Co., WV Schools. He is survived by his wife, Delores Lopes Smith; 2 sons, Gary (Donna) Smith of Macon, GA and Christopher Smith of St. Albans, WV; 4 brothers, Fred (June) Smith of Shelbyville, KY and Tim (Linda) Smith, Michael (Joann) Smith and Stephen Smith, all of Monaville, WV; and his furry pal, “Mr. Kitty.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 26, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Chesapeake, OH with Father Charles Moran officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Friday at Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, WV. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
