William D. Edwards

William Douglas “Billy” Edwards, 86, of South Point, OH, formerly of New Carlisle, OH passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY.  He was born May 9, 1932 in Dayton, OH, a son of the late William Edwards and Naoma Puterbaugh Edwards.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Edwards and a sister, Bonita Layer.  Billy was a Korean War veteran serving with the U S Army.  He was a machine operator with Sprague Electric and more recently, a forklift operator with Protective Treatments, Inc., where he retired from in 1988.  Survivors include his wife, Virgie I. Rehmert Edwards; a son, Gary (Virginia) Britton of Covington, OH; a daughter, Teresa (David) Hamilton of Chesapeake, OH; a sister, Barbara (Walter) Eakes of Englewood, OH; a brother, Byron (Rose) Edwards of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Hamilton and Brittney (Dallas) Tibbs; and a great granddaughter, Alyssa Hamilton.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Cardwell officiating.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
