Edward Louis Willis, 84, of Ironton, OH passed away Friday, September 06, 2013 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday, September 9, 2013 at Zoar Baptist Church, Coal Grove, OH. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, OH. Edward was born May 11, 1929 in Lawrence County, OH, a son of the late Charles and Rhoda Holley Willis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Golda Thornsbury and Hattie New; brother, Kenneth Willis; and son, Rick Brown. He retired after 33 years from Union Cemetery Columbus, OH as an assistant superintendent, served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Edward is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jean Young Willis; children, Chuck Willis, Edward Louis Willis Jr., James Willis, Jonathan Willis, Donald Willis, Ron Brown and Debra Southers; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
