BOB O. ADDIS, born March 14, 1936 passed away October 8, 2013 on his wife, Evelyn’s birthday at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY, where he was a patient for 4 hours. Evelyn, Jack and Penny Davis, Donna Malone and Myra Bishop were at his side. He was the son of the late Emory and Othell Henry Addis. He had 2 daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Bobbi Lynette, both deceased.
He was the last of 10 children; 8 sisters, Garnet Click, Irene Leach, Evelyn Knipp, Pauline Knipp, Lela Kerns, Joann Smith, Caroline Dean and Jan Stephens; and one brother, Kenneth Addis.
He graduated from Decatur Washington High School. He married Evelyn Lucille Davis on November 27, 1957. He served in the U. S. Air Force.
Bob was saved at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at the age of 17 on May 2, 1953 and was baptized at Decatur Baptist Church on May 10, 1953. He was licensed to preach and ordained on July 17, 1960. He pastored Macedonia Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church in Ohio and Culloden Baptist Church and Pinch Baptist Church in West Virginia. He was a 50-year member of the Lawrence Lodge #198 and a 32nd Degree Mason.
Thanks go to Theresa Lucas, who helped care for Bob the last year and a half; nephew, Tony Knipp; nephew, Jack Davis; neighbors, Bill and Vicky Sizemore, Delbert Tennant, Connie and Larry Massie, Joyce Harvey, April Huff , Joe and Bonnie McKenzie and Marshall and Pat Ferguson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Rev. Dale Knipp officiating. Burial will follow in Slab Fork Cemetery, Pedro with military honors. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with light refreshments served.
