Helen E. Boggs

August 20, 1929 - December 25, 2018

Helen Elaine Boggs, 89, of South Point, OH, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, December 25, with her husband of 46 years, Peter E. Boggs, holding her hand. She was born in Stepptown, WV in 1929 and attended Crum High School. Helen was a skilled beautician, owning her own beauty salon, Helaine’s, in Huntington, WV. Pete and Helen loved traveling and the outdoors, owning their own retreat, Boggs Resort, in Hale, Michigan. She was a member of the South Point United Methodist Church and Choir for 28 years. She had a passion for volunteer work, singing, painting, sewing and crafting.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Blaine Jenkins, and Martha Jane Mollett, her first husband, Carl Marcum, son, Eric Eddie Marcum, and step-son Marty Reynolds.

She is survived by her children, Teresia Marcum (Paul) VanHoose, Carla Marcum (Thomas) Walsh, and step-son Richard Reynolds, and daughter-in-law, Patsy Marcum Dowell.

She is survived by her grand-children LaDonna VanHoose (Terry) Halley, Paula VanHoose (Alex) Bain, DeLoraine VanHoose (Dan) Huff, Marshall (Hannah) Reynolds, Taylor Reynolds, Johnathon Scott (Jennifer) Conn, Erica Laine Marcum, Jessica Dawson (Benjamin Aaron) DeHaven, Matthew Dawson (Britany Miller), Christopher Marcum, Sara Dawson (Clay) Smith.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, John Martin Plese, Zharell Lynch, Alexandrea Shea Lynch, Brandy Michelle (Michael) Gipson, Rachel Hunt, Aleena Halley, Katie Hunt, Johnathon Conn, Nicholas Conn, Gavin Neal, Lyla Mae DeHaven, Dawson DeHaven, Claire Dawson, Alex Reynolds, Dawsyn Reynolds, Lincoln DeHaven, Sutton Smith, and great-great grandchildren, Rhiannon Halley, Levi Lynch, Raelynn Gipson, Dalton Gipson.

Funeral services will be 12 PM Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Jamie Mosley officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
