Samuel Ellis Barker

Samuel Ellis Barker, 73, of South Point, OH died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY.  He was born April 16, 1944 in Burlington, OH, a son of the late Frank Preston Barker and Ella May Ratcliff Barker.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Mickey Barker; two sisters, Margret and Jane; and three brothers, Jack, Dave and Dan Barker; and a great grandchild, Jantis.  Sam was a service mechanic in the tire and auto business.  He liked to fish and play the lottery and slot machines.  Survivors include two children, Stacie (Tim) Murray and Samuel (Rebecca) Barker, all of Columbus, OH; one sister, Emma Shope of South Point; twelve grandchildren, Johnny and James Murray, Ericka, Loura, Karissa, Autumn, Sam Jr., Ryleigh, Hayleigh Jo, Mickenna, Maria and Kaidon Barker; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jacob, Kesley, Cooper and Roman; and many nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends Earl Crager, Mary Gibson and Marlyn Runyon.  Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point with Pastor Randy Tait officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.
