Roger D. Bays

August 26, 1949 - January 11, 2019

Roger D. Bays, 69, of South Point, OH went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV.  He was born August 26, 1949 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Darrius Bays and Mary Pauline Quentrill Bays. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Roy and Goldie Bays and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Elizabeth Quentrill. Roger was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from Marathon Petroleum as a Machinist. He also attended Symmes Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sharon L. Dillow Bays; two daughters, Laura Ward of South Point, OH and Kim (Mark) Carey of South Point, OH; four grandchildren, Danielle and Sarah Ward, Hannah and Emilee Carey; a sister, Sandi (Johnnie) Burnett, along with many family and friends.  Funeral services will be at 7 PM Monday, January 14, 2019 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Mark Fields officiating. Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place later at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.
