Joan Lillian (Taft) Combs, 89 years old of South Point, OH went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2018 at St. Mary’s Medical Center with her family by her side. Joan was born May 11, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Ronald L. Combs, who we are sure was waiting for her with open arms. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian (Studsvick) Taft and a sister, Peggy Taube. She is survived by two sons, Jeffery T. (Beth) Combs of South Point, OH; Johnny F. (Janie) Combs of Katy, TX; four grandchildren, Jeffery Scott (Rachael) Combs of Proctorville, OH, Mark B. (Tara) Combs of Chesapeake, OH, Brett Combs of Sugarland, TX, Jill Combs of Houston, TX; four great grandchildren, Easton Combs, Karis and Richie Combs all of Chesapeake OH, Corey Combs of Houston, TX; a nephew, Kurt Taube of Columbus, OH and an abundance of family and friends. She was a 50 year member of Chesapeake Church of the Nazarene, Chesapeake, OH. Joan was a member of the VFW Post 6878 Women’s Auxiliary of Proctorville, OH and a member of the Women’s League of the Salvation Army. She retired from GMAC after 30 plus years of service. She sold AVON for over 30 years where she on numerous occasions made The Presidents Club. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, OH with Pastor Jamie Gump officiating. Friends may call from 12-2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH.
